FLOATING SCULPTURE INSPIRES WORSHIP
Posted on 02:07 by cena mical
ST. JOSEPH MEMORIAL CHAPEL worshippers in Massachusetts are being challenged to encounter their sacred space in a new way since the artwork “Curalium,” a 50-foot curving, floating sculpture was installed. “Curalium,” a fiberglass work was created by German artist Angela Glajcar, who assembled it in the chapel from March 21 to 23. It will be on view through May 16. The project is designed to foster a dialogue between the world of faith and the world of contemporary art. "People seeing it for the first time might be a little shocked and awestruck," said Taylor Blackwell, a junior philosophy and studio arts major who helped install the work. "It was like shedding your identity," said the 20-year-old Worcester resident. "It was like shedding your ego."
