CALIFORNIA - The art world may be substantially indifferent to religion, but it’s hardly a cesspool of antireligious bigotry. It’s also ironic that our art museums could be rusty when it comes to addressing a controversy over religious iconography, since they are in fact rich repositories of art about religion, especially Christianity. Given that museums own piles of art about Christianity, and to a lesser extent other religions, and exhibit it prominently, how did we get to the point where anyone could argue that the art world is anti-Christian?
