Ohio Surfer Does Holy Koran

PENNSYLVANIA---The Andy Warhol Museum is featuring an exhibition of paintings that combine the hand-written words of the Koran with gouache paintings of scenes from contemporary American life. The works were created by Surfer/Artist Sandow Birk, an Ohio native, raised by Presbyterian parents and totally uneducated about Islam. His 5-years of research on this project however revealed more similarities than differences from his own religious tradition. The exhibition, "The Word of God: Sandow Birk's American Qur'an." runs through May 1 at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA. Maybe we can meet-up there soon?
