PHILIPPINES - Holy Week is when most Filipinos in the cities pack up and leave for the provinces and do Holy Week rituals like Pilgrimage and Visita Iglesia. Visita Iglesia is an early Christian practice of visiting the seven great Basilicas in Rome. In the Philippines where there are many old churches, Visita Iglesia is one of the famous Holy Week traditional practices that is being celebrated. The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines has created a website to enable Filipino Catholics based overseas and those who are physically impaired to join the Holy Week Celebrations.
