St. John's Unitarian is one of God's Art Museums | Cincinnati

OHIO - ROBERT "BO," A FORMER ROMAN CATHOLIC, took my arm with a warm smile and excitedly gave me a tour of the art collection in the sanctuary at Saint John’s Unitarian Church in Cincinnati. “Let me show you [Henry] Bertoia’s “Tree of Life,” he said. “It’s worth more than the entire church and at the Winter Equinox it lights up," and then continued enthusiastically pointing out a tiny "apple" hidden in the towering "Tree of Life." You could tell from his giddy introduction of this giant wall sculpture, of literally thousands of copper tendrils welded one rod at-a-time, that he was a "creative" (he's a graphic designer) who felt art was important enough to make him late for both a scheduled quick lunch and meeting, even after sitting through a fairly long worship service with his partner Greg (another former Roman Catholic). It was his partner Greg who'd discovered St. John's in 2004 and the two have been faithful attendees since 2005, so I guess I found just the right guide for another of God's Art Museums tours.
